Program Information:

The 2008 Summer Immersion Project will consist of a three week session where participants will live in a volunteer residence in Huancayo, Peru. During the three week session students will:

Students will be greeted by our staff in Lima, Peru then accompanied to Huancayo. We will provide an orientation to Huancayo and the Mantaro Valley as well as facilitate volunteer activity. Students will stay together in a volunteer house, receive three meals a day, shared bedrooms, and hot shower bathrooms.

The volunteer work for the immersion program will be a project where teams of students will observe and document the life and challenges in the Peruvian Highlands by:

The teams will then analyze their observations and design conceptual solutions for the “root cause” of the problems that they will summarize in the format of their choice. Students will have the opportunity to present their proposal ideas to the directors of the Andean Outreach Program for funding consideration in the future.
