Welcome - Bienvenidos a Perú!

This summer, the Andean Outreach Program would like to invite you to participate in the 2008 Summer Immersion Project in Huancayo, Peru from June 22 – July 12. This is a great opportunity for students to experience Andean Culture in the Highlands of Peru, interact with disadvantaged families, observe what other NGOs are accomplishing, analyze social challenges in rural Andean communities, and explore the surrounding Andes Mountains.

The Andean Outreach Program will host volunteers in Huancayo, Peru and facilitate a study of current social problems. Students will have the opportunity to interact with young Peruvians for an exciting cultural exchange. The volunteers will have the opportunity to brainstorm creative solutions to difficult social problems.

This volunteer program will not only provide a unique educational experience, but also will provide an important opportunity to aid in the efforts to effect social change in low-income communities. Our main goal is to promote social and cultural understanding for Andean Communities as well as to conceive ways to help improve life there.

The program also includes a number of exciting excursions to local sites where volunteers can explore the mountains, engage in cultural activities, and participate in outdoor sports. This program contains a balanced volunteer and adventure experience.
